RSPB: Bird Watching Visitor Center Lochwinnoch

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds

The project is located within the natural reserve at Lochwinnoch, where the new building would accommodate RSPB offices, a tourism center, a cafe restaurant, workshops, and an observatory tower. The design concept focuses on the quality of light and circulation experience throughout the space. A generous entrance and a viewpoint straight through the building frame the view of the lake. Staff office and restaurant are strategically decided by a path. The depth of the path allows the build-up of layers and hierarchy of space, as well as allowing natural daylight to penetrate deep spaces. Offering a whole new experience for visitors and users while minimizing the visual impact of the building in the natural landscape.
